Distilling Academy

Hi, I’m Erica! I’m a Master’s Degree certified booze and science geek. I love the science of spirits so much, I moved all the way from my hometown in BC, Canada, to Scotland to learn as much as I could about it. It was an absolutely amazing experience, studying, living, and working in distilleries over there, but it did feel like my only option to get ahead in the world of distilling. Growing up in BC’s wine country, my options for further study in beverage science seemed wine focused, and limited. After finishing my Bachelors of Science and working at a local winery, the only opportunity I could find to further my studies and gain knowledge and experience in distilling science was moving to Scotland. It was a huge sacrifice, leaving my family and friends behind, and not to mention the rather large dent it put in the old savings account. I’m glad I did it, but I do recall frustration at the lack of credible, useful, and practical options to study closer to home. Saving up for the big jump across the pond, I worked as a science and math tutor, and developed my love of teaching. So, now that I’m back home, and the interest in craft distilling seems as strong as ever, I want to offer my courses to you, the budding distiller, wherever you are in the world, and bring the education to you!
